Who are BASE?
The BASE Enterprise Centre Limited was established in 1995 to build a
purpose designed enterprise centre in Mulhuddart serving the Greater Blanchardstown
area. The Centre currently provides incubator units for start-up enterprises
in their first three years but a more substantial second phase of 22,000
square feet will be open in early 2004. The Centre took in its first resident
company in March 1999. By end December 2002, 24 companies had been established
through BASE. The Centre is, and has remained full since December 2000.
In 2002 16 companies operated through BASE employing 42 people. BASE itself
employed 12 staff and managed 3 Full-time Job Initiative participants.
A total of 57 people were therefore employed by or in the centre in 2002,
a very high contribution to the local economic activity.
BASE is a unique social enterprise and has proven one of the most successful
such ventures in Ireland. BASE has also been awarded the Excellence Through
People Award recognising the quality of staff service and commitment to
their clients.
